Empowerment for Peace Walk

  • 2081 Slighs Ave Columbia, SC, 29203 United States (map)

Established in collaboration with the Columbia Police Department, Richland County Sheriff’s Office and Serve & Connect in 2018, the North Columbia Youth Empowerment Initiative (NCYEI) works to foster police and community partnerships that empower the lives of neighborhood children and youth in the 29203 region.

This year’s third annual Empowerment for Peace Walk will be held on Sunday, Feb. 26, and has a theme centered around “Restore the Village: the Tipping Point.” The walk will begin at noon at Palmetto Terrace (on the corner of Howell & Slighs) with a community sign-making event for attendees, followed by an opening ceremony at 2 p.m. After which, participants will depart along the designated route to conclude at Bayberry Mews neighborhood for a community block party and resource fair. The multi-community awareness event will highlight local youth leadership, provide tools and resources and encourage community support in promoting peace over violence. The event is free and open to the public.

Thank you to our partners: Columbia Police Department, City of Columbia, Richland County Sheriff’s Department, Walmart and numerous community organizations, including faith-based institutions, neighborhood associations, youth groups, schools and more.
